So I’m auditioning for 2 Pianos 4 Hands tomorrow morning at 10:30…I’m very excited and also very nervous and therefore am still awake practicing and perfecting. I had to learn a section of Bach’s Concerto in D minor…a beast of a piece! It’s proven to be a rewarding challenge…one that I will carry on with long after this audition is through, I’m sure. I hope you enjoy the clip!

Also, I saw Colin Mochrie on stage tonight with the National Theatre of the Word. He is, in a word, an inspiration. We met afterwards and chatted. What a life!

I’m learning Bach’s Concerto in D Minor for my 2 Piano’s 4 Hands audition. This is what I’ve got so far…I’m playing on Janet Wright’s old Heintzman which now has a home in my Toronto flat.

Please forgive the mistakes (and the question of tuning)… the last time I played classical music was over 10 years ago! Let’s hope I can land this thing!

PLAYING WITH FIRE music & lyrics by Elliott Loran (copyright 2012)

Although this song is still under construction, it still remains, in my opinion, one of the best songs I’ve written to date. I’m hoping to layer on more instruments and build up to a sort of whirling dervish. Check back in a week or so for an updated version.

STOW AWAY composed by Elliott Loran (Copyright 2012)

This is a song I wrote a little over a year ago. If you saw Ginger Ninjas you will have heard a version of it. Still working on lyrics but it may remain an instrumental piece. Let me know what you think!

Text 3 Jan Ride the Cyclone makes waves in 2011!

4 years ago writer Jacob Richmond and composer Brooke Maxwell set out to do something they had never done before: Write a musical! Today, Ride the Cyclone has just completed it’s first Canadian National Tour, setting the Canadian Theatre World (and beyond) abuzz!

First of all I would just like to take this opportunity to say how honored I am to be working with such a dedicated, passionate and talented group of individuals. A HUGE thank you to Jacob & Brooke for creating this fabulous piece, to Brit Small and Treena Stubel for moulding it and to each and every one of my cast mates (Kelly Hudson, Rielle Braid, SarahJane Pelzer, Kholby Wardell, Matthew Coulson) for stepping up to the plate and giving it your all. Much love to Hank Pine and James Insell for creating the beautiful set and for touring with us as Karnak and Virgil.

(I must also mention past cast members Carey Wass, Almeera Jiwa, Timothy Johnston, Celine Stubel, Alex Wlasenko (Virgil), Jen Wilcox (Karnak) who we’re a huge part of the creation process)

Best of 2011 Mention’s for Ride the Cyclone Across Canada!

Text 31 Dec A New Years Parable of sorts

This is my house plant, Lucky. He comes by this name honestly. What you must know of Lucky is that he’s always boasted a luscious mane, a full, green coat.

Last winter, when I moved from my first Toronto abode onto the next, he died. Flat out. He was rotting from the inside so we had to trim him back to nothing. Bare Bones, but even the bones had been pulled back leaving nothing but dirt. The roots were still there. Buried. We gave him a month, and watered him meticulously. Nothing. At the time I was living with one of my very best friends Brit Johnston. What you must know of Brit is that she shares a special and deep connection with the our mother earth. I like to think of her my personal yogi of sorts. Well there we were with a dead plant and a gorgeous terra cotta pot. We gave him one more night. As Brit headed off to bed she said to Lucky, who was only known at that time as Plant, “you better show me a sign, something to prove to me that you’re still alive in there.”
Sure enough, the next morning, Lucky had reached his little arms out, exposing 3 baby shoots.
Now, almost a year later, Lucky has grown into quite the young plant, or rather, the old plant reborn. Whatever the case may be it is clear to me that Lucky has a little life in him yet.
Life can be full of surprises. Some bring you up and some cut you down. Life is a journey, my friends and I am so happy to be living it and sharing moments with each and every one of you. All of best in the New Year. May it be a year of prosperity and growth, of discovery and invention. Wether you’re following the garden path or running wildly through the forest, let life take you to wondrous places.
Peace and Love

Try out the all NEW Space Age Bachelor Man video game! Ride the Cyclone is now playing in Whitehorse and will soon be in Toronto. Check out the website for more information. www.ridethecyclonemusical.com

Also…I have never had a video game designed after me (or rather after a character I play) and I just want to go on the record by saying IT FEELS GREAT! I highly recommend it ;) Thanks Cecily. You ROCK!!!

Photo 22 Oct OK. So I LOVE my brother so much! He works at 100.3 the Q as their roadie and community liaison. He does so much for his community, and in return he gets to do some pretty cool stuff with some pretty cool people…..and if I’m really nice to him, he brings me along too :) The picture above is pretty self explanatory. It makes me smile every time I see it!

I just recorded this sound clip for a french language voice over. This was an audio test, so I chose to read a passage from one of my favorite childhood reads…Le Petit Prince. I enjoyed doing it so much that I am considering doing a weekly read from the book :)
